PBL set deadline for veterans
(April 12, 2010)
Veteran players have until tomorrow to
submit their application for drafting for the season-ending
tournament of the Philippine Basketball League (PBL).
The PBL has already relaxed slightly its
age requirement for its second conference, a move that
will allow each team to field a maximum of three players
between the ages of 26 to 28.
These players, according to Executive
Director Butch Maniego, may either be ex-pros from the
PBA and ABL, or veterans of the PBL itself, La Liga
or other local leagues.
The only prerequisite is they have to
submit their name for drafting on or before April 14
by faxing a letter to the PBL office at tel. no. 533-3556
or by e-mailing applications to
2010pblveterans@gmail.com.
Pro league practice players who are allowed
by their PBA teams to rejoin the PBL this conference
will also be encouraged.
In a bid to encourage more players from
the south to try their hand at big city hoops, PBL teams
will also be allowed to directly hire five players from
Visayas and Mindanao, for as long as they have not played
for a Metro Manila-based college league and is under
26 years of age.
If they are over the age limit, they
also have to pass through the reinstatement draft.
