Tioseco stars again as Nutri-C-Ateneo wins

Nutri-C-Ateneo bounced back from its crushing setback to the Discovery Suites-RP Women’s team by downing Oracle Residences-Far Eastern University, 69-51, yesterday in the Women’s PBL at the Lyceum gym in Intramuros.

SEA Games veteran Cassandra Tioseco once again imposed her will inside the shaded lane, posting 17 points and eight rebounds to lead the Lady Eagles to their third win in four starts.

The 6-foot Tioseco, who also had two assists, led the team’s fiery first quarter performance where she scattered seven points. She also had five in the fourth to help repel Oracle Residences’ mighty comeback.

The Katipunan-based Oracle Residences fell to 1-2.

Meantime, Chito Narvasa’s Muscle Tape-Lyceum finally barged into the win-column after dropping its first three games with a harrowing 69-67 win over Mail & More.

In the third game, Oracare-College of St. Benilde Leonette Salvacion – sister of Ginebra’s Sunday – stunned sister-team Sunkist-La Salle, 68-66, for its first win in three starts.

Oracare’s victory negated the 30-point explosion of Eileen Urieta, including 14 in the payoff period where they made their biggest run.

Urieta’s output is the highest so far in the tournament. She shot a remarkable 6-of-8 shooting from the 3-point zone – the most by any player in the league.
